Port yn Anelu i Ymateb ym Mhowys
Mae CPD Porthmadog yn teithio i Bowys y penwythnos hwn ar gyfer her anodd yn erbyn Cegidfa, wrth i’r ddau glwb edrych i gryfhau eu safleoedd yn hanner uchaf tabl Cynghrair Novira Cymru North.
Daw’r Port i’r gêm ar gefn dwy golled yn olynol am y tro cyntaf ers peth amser. Daeth y gyntaf yng Nghwpan Cymru yn erbyn Cei Connah, cyn i arweinwyr y gynghrair, Brickfield Rangers, gipio buddugoliaeth o 1-0 ar brynhawn gwlyb a gwyntog ar y Traeth wythnos diwethaf.
Cyn hynny, roedd Porthmadog wedi cael rhediad ragorol, gan gofnodi buddugoliaethau pwysig yn erbyn Y Drenewydd (1-0), Dinas Bangor 1876 (1-0) a Gresford Athletic (1-0). Roedd y canlyniadau hynny’n tynnu sylw at gryfder ac amynedd y garfan, gyda’r amddiffyn yn arbennig yn chwarae rhan allweddol wrth gadw tair gêm gynghrair ddi-ildio yn olynol.
Er bod taith i Bowys bob amser yn brawf anodd, nid yw canlyniadau diweddar y tîm cartref wedi bod mor gyson â’r hyn y maent wedi’i gynhyrchu yn gynharach yn y tymor. Mae Cegidfa wedi casglu dim ond un pwynt o’u dwy gêm gynghrair ddiwethaf, er eu bod wedi cofnodi buddugoliaethau trawiadol yn erbyn Hotspur Caergybi a Llanuwchllyn yn gynharach yn yr ymgyrch.
Fel Porthmadog, daeth taith Cegidfa yng Nghwpan Cymru i ben yn yr ail rownd. Ar ôl gêm ddramatig a orffennodd yn gyfartal 3-3 yn erbyn Coedpoeth, collodd y tîm o Bowys 9-8 ar giciau o’r smotyn. Byddant yn awyddus i ymateb yn gadarnhaol a dychwelyd at fuddugoliaeth ar eu cae eu hunain.
Mae’r ystadegau’n awgrymu gornest agos iawn. Ar hyn o bryd mae Cegidfa yn yr wythfed safle gyda 17 pwynt o 12 gêm, tra bod Porthmadog yn bedwerydd gyda 23 pwynt o’r un nifer o gemau. Mae pob arwydd felly yn awgrymu y bydd hon yn gêm gystadleuol a difyr.
Port Looking to Bounce Back in Powys
CPD Porthmadog make the trip to Powys this weekend for another important Novira Cymru North fixture against Guilsfield, with both clubs looking to strengthen their positions in the top half of the table.
Port head into the game on the back of consecutive defeats, the first coming in the Welsh Cup against Connah’s Quay before league leaders Brickfield Rangers secured a narrow 1-0 victory at a wet and windy Traeth last weekend.
Before those setbacks, Porthmadog had enjoyed an impressive run of results, recording important wins over Newtown (1-0), Bangor 1876 (1-0) and Gresford Athletic (1-0). Those victories highlighted the squad’s resilience and defensive strength, with three consecutive league clean sheets underlining their consistency.
A trip to Powys is never an easy task and, despite a slight dip in recent form, Guilsfield remain a formidable opponent. The hosts have collected just one point from their last two league matches but have also enjoyed notable victories over Holyhead Hotspur and Llanuwchllyn earlier in the campaign.
Like Porthmadog, Guilsfield saw their Welsh Cup journey come to an end in the second round. A dramatic 3-3 draw against Coedpoeth was eventually settled by penalties, with Coedpoeth winning by 9-8. The home side today, will be determined to bounce back and return to winning ways.
The statistics suggest a closely contested encounter. Guilsfield currently occupy eighth position with 17 points from 12 matches, while Porthmadog sit fourth with 23 points from the same number of games. All the ingredients are there for an entertaining and competitive afternoon.
Ffurf Ddiweddar yn y Gynghrair | Recent League Form

8 pwynt o’r 6 gêm ddiwethaf | 8 points from the last 6 matches

Porthmadog:

Yr Allwedd i’r Gêm | Key Battle
Bydd y frwydr yng nghanol y cae yn hollbwysig. Bydd y tîm sy’n rheoli meddiant ac yn manteisio ar gyfleoedd yn debygol o roi ei hun mewn safle cryf i gipio’r tri phwynt.
The midfield battle could prove decisive. Whichever side controls possession and makes the most of its chances in the final third is likely to put itself in a strong position to claim all three points.
